"User is authenticated but not connected"

Post by trev2 »

I have tried to add a new hotmail account. First, I tried using Oauth, and got an error message.
"User is authenticated but not connected"

Looked at past posts, and as suggested on one tried using password instead. Same thing.

I tried a new outlook.com email. Same thing.

I have used PP for many years, have several outlook & hotmail accounts, all working fine.
Passwords etc checked, addresses checked. PP version up to date. Can sign into emails directly no problem.

Help!!! :-)

One possible reason for this is that POP3/IMAP may not be enabled in your account. Most older accounts should have this enabled by default, but newer Outlook accounts may have to enable this manually.

1) Log into your outlook.com account and press the gear icon (top-right)
2) Make sure you're on the "Mail" page and then select the "Forwarding and IMAP" link
3) It may be necessary to sign in to verify your account
4) At the bottom of the page, make sure that "Let devices and apps use IMAP" is enabled (or "POP" if you're using POP3)
5) Press the 'Save' button
